Product Description:

CalciumHydroxide (Kalkwasser Powder) is a tried and true method to maintain propercalcium and pH levels in reef aquaria. Mix with fresh water and add as neededto top off the aquarium for evaporation.

CalciumHydroxide is the proven standard for maintaining calcium concentration andalkalinity in closed marine aquaria. The calcium provided is directly used bycalcifying organisms, and the hydroxide ions provided readily convert dissolvedCO2 into bicarbonate and carbonate ions, which are also directly used bycalcifying organisms. The net result is no ionic imbalances in the aquariumwater, which can occur through the prolonged use of other calcium supplements,such as calcium chloride.

Our product isextremely pure and meets American Water Works and Water Chemicals CodexSpecifications. This means it's pure enough to be used in low-levels as potablewater additive by water municipalities. Due to the high pH of Calcium Hydroxidesolutions, its important to add slowly (dripping is best) to your system so asto prevent localized precipitation and the resultant loss of alkalinity. Proper control of magnesium level isimperative for the health and growth of corals and many other invertebrates.Continuum recommends that you maintain a calcium level of between 410 and 450mg/L (ppm), an alkalinity level of 7 to 11 dKH (2.5 to 4 meq/L), and amagnesium level of 1250 to 1350 mg/L (ppm). Note: Aquarists keeping SPS coralsshould consider keeping alkalinity at 7 to no more than 9 dKH (2.5 to 3.21meq/L).

Directionsand protocol.

Dissolve 2-1/2 grams, about 1/2teaspoon of product in 8 oz. ( 236 ml ) purified water (Caution: may generatesignificant heat upon mixing, wear rubber gloves and allow to cool ifnecessary). Add in an area of high flow directly to tank for each 20 gallons (76 L ) capacity, every other day until the desired magnesium level is reached.For best results, measure the magnesium concentration and add as necessary tomaintain between 1250 and 1350 mg/L (ppm). CAUTION: ALWAYS MIX OUTSIDE THETANK. ABSORBS MOISTURE, KEEP TIGHTLY CLOSED!

Expertuse.

To dose, determine the amount ofmagnesium consumption during the time it takes add the entire volume of yourdrip system. Determine the amount of Reef?Basis Magnesium to add to your dripsystem in grams by multiplying your tank capacity in gallons by the amount youwant to raise it in mg/l (ppm) and by 0.009. ( Example: if you have a 20 gallontank and you want to raise the level by 25 mg/l (ppm) with the entire dose, youwould multiply 20 x .009 x 25 which equals 4.5 grams or about 2 teaspoons ofReef?Basis Magnesium.
